Old Songs With A New Twist

Hillside Gardens Concert Program Is Getting Exciting

You might say one of the things jazz musicians do well is deliver old songs with a new twist, for example: they change the rhythm that the song was originally written in to give it a new feel. And, jazz musicians love to improvise solos – spontaneously creating a new song from the original melody.

For the Hillside Gardens concert our jazz quartet will present old songs with a latin or funk or bossa nova twist. If you are planning on being there you will love some of the rousing jazz arrangements of pop tunes from Disney or the Beatles. And if you are a classic jazz fan you will get a real kick out of what we have done with songs like the perennial favorite from Miles Davis, All Blues.

Yesterday in rehearsal I could hardly contain my excitement as the jazz masters of the rhythm section, Bruce Pennington on keyboard, Marc Neihof on bass and Dick Cunico on drums, made the songs come alive in a new way as they laid down some hip grooves.

If you plan to be in or near Colorado Springs on July 21st do plan to join us for Jazz In The Gardens.

Whether you will be at Hillside or not, please be sure to become a FluteDaddy fan on Facebook We are giving away a free download of one of our fans favorites and you will be on our mailing list to receive FluteDaddy news and a great jazz offer that’s coming soon.
